The Cocoon Dress Sewing Pattern

Comfort is key with The Cocoon Dress. This pattern is made in a stretch jersey fabric and boasts a relaxed shape with three sleeve options – a simple split, straight cuff or a flared cuff and a beautifully simple round neckline. This calf-length dress is designed to pull on overhead for fuss-free wear! Relaxed, formal or edgy, it's the easiest dress to wear! Its drapey shape creates a soft, elegant silhouette that’s perfect for all body shapes and sizes. The loosely fitted bodice with integrated Japanese-style sleeves can be made with and without seams and with or without an elasticated waistline, the choice is yours!

SKILL LEVEL: Confident Beginner and Above

SIZES: XS–7XL (approx 8-28 (UK), 4-24 (US)
Select your dress size using the size chart for the most accurate make.

RECOMMENDED FABRIC: 2.5 -3.5m (2¼-4yds) 

Choose a jersey fabric with at least 20% stretch. This means the fabric can stretch up to 40% minimum of its original length without losing its shape or structure.

FABRIC TIP: Buy 5% more fabric than required to account for any shrinkage.

OTHER THINGS YOU WILL NEED:

• Walking foot. If you don’t have it, use your normal presser foot. 
• Standard ballpoint needle 
• Twin needles (not mandatory)
  
• 1cm wide of elastic for the waistband (optional)
